The McDaniel family is granted a six-month extension on finding a new home on their property after their house burned down in December of 2016.
The family disputes that the city is not working with them, but today, city council gave them additional time to find a new home.
“I don’t want to be in the house,” said homeowner Chester McDaniel. “I got a 7-year old son that lost everything, we all did. I got photos of the room if you’d like to see it. Our rafters were burned out, chief was there, the fire department was there. We lost everything…. nine years.”
Mortgage and insurance companies are currently deciding the family’s fate in litigation.
