Bossier Parish school officials are lending out some bus and safety updates

Local

With the start of school on Wednesday for Bossier Parish, school officials are lending out some bus and safety updates for parents and their kids.

More than 23,000 students will begin school Wednesday morning and more than 60-percent of them will be riding the bus.

The director of transportation for bossier parish schools says there will be some changes to the bus routes, moving all bus stops to the corner of the streets.

More than 200 school buses will be hitting the road Wednesday morning and more than half of them will have air conditioning.

Officials remind teachers and parents to make sure students are hydrated if they ride on a bus without AC.

There are also 44 new school resource officers, one deputy per school and an additional deputy at high schools with 500 students or more.

And a reminder for drivers that school zones are hands free and that fines are doubled in those areas.
