DeSoto Parish School Superintendent Dr. Cade Brumley is the only candidate in the running for the same post in Jefferson Parish.
School officials said former administrator Glenn Mayeaux dropped out of the race after finding he did not hold the proper credentials for the job.
Brumley will formally interview for the position next Monday in Jefferson Parish.
The board is expected to vote on hiring a candidate after the public interview.
The Jefferson Parish school district is the largest in the state, with well over 40,000 students.
Dr. Brumley has led the DeSoto Parish School system to an ‘A’ rating. Currently the Jefferson Parish school district has a ‘C’ rating.
The Jefferson Parish school district decided in January not to renew Superintendent Isaac Joseph’s contract.
Dr. Brumley has led the DeSoto Parish school district since 2012.
