More than a hundred people gathered at Christus St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, Texas on Sunday to celebrate National Cancer Survivors Day.
Organizers say it’s an opportunity for survivors to spread messages of hope. Speaker and survivor Lanell Miller said, “It’s good to have people around us that will support us. But I think most important is that we can find strength in our relationship with God.” Cancer survivor Rowenia Cheatham added, “Hold on and don’t give up, keep the faith … it works every time.”
Survivors took pictures together and with family at the event. It was also an opportunity for them to lend support to one another. Cancer Survivor Barbara Henry said, “We … visit with them and we pray with them.”
This was the third year for the event.
