Caregiver arrested after stealing $25K from elderly

A caregiver has been arrested after she allegedly stole $25,000 from her elderly employer.

Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Cynthia Dobbins, 62 of Monroe, on February 27, 2018.

According to the arrest report, Cynthia Dobbins was privately employed as a sitter/caregiver for the elderly victim in this case.

Dobbins would on random dates, sit with the elderly victim for a few hours each time.

Shortly after being hired, family members found money to be missing from within the residence and installed video surveillance equipment. Dobbins was seen on video taking money from the residence without the victim’s consent.

Dobbins agreed to speak with deputies and admitted to stealing money from the residence on multiple occasions.

Dobbins admitted the total amount of money taken was $25,000.00.

Dobbins is being held in the Ouachita Correctional Center on one count of Felony Theft (Misappropriation of Greater than $25,000)

Her bond has been set at $75,000.
