Cleanup continues in Mira after an EF-1 tornado downs several trees and damages property Saturday.
Mary Jane Dominick has lived in this home 63 years and she says she’s never seen destruction like the one Saturday’s EF-1 tornado left behind.
“I knew it was supposed to be pretty bad weather, but I didn’t think much about it,”said Mary Jane Dominick, Mira resident.
Mary Jane says she was at church with her neighbor when she began receiving alerts on her phone that Mira had been hit by a tornado.
“I had never had trees damaged due to tornados,” said Dominick. Just take a look at this large pine tree. It was completely uprooted during the storm and Mary Jane says she’s lucky it didn’t fall the other direction onto her home.
“This one behind us come across my roadway here and the big one in the back damaged my husbands office,” said Dominick
Now Mary Jane, her grandson and a friend are cleaning up the debris.”This is going to take a good bit of cleaning,” said Brandon Dominick, Grandson
“We just started just the little stuff today. We haven’t been able to get with our adjuster to see what they’ll be doing about these trees,” said Dominick
The Dominicks say all their losses can be replaced.”It could have been a lot worse. We’re just happy nobody got hurt,” said Brandon.
The National Weather Service determined there were a total of three tornados Saturday in North Louisiana.
