Coming in from the cold

Local

This week’s freezing temperatures have prompted the Salvation Army in Texarkana to keep their doors open around the clock.

This allows people that have nowhere else to go, a place to warm themselves during the day.  Major David Feeser said there are more people staying overnight in the shelter and family rooms are near capacity.

“It’s those that don’t have that ability to heat up, so, like those sleeping in their cars or those that are completely on their own, and those with families, so, we’ve got the little kids,” Feeser said,  The Salvation Army warming center will remain open during the day as long as extreme weather is a threat.
