Law enforcement officials report that crime is down in Texarkana.

Both Arkansas and Texas are enjoying the downward trend.  At a joint city meeting Tuesday, police officials said they are happy to see lower occurrences.  However, officials add that crime happens in a cyclical fashion and they do expect it to go back up.  But crime in general is on the decline.

TTPD Chief Daniel Shiner said, “We’re on a decreasing trend in crime from twenty years ago.  And so, a little bit at a time, on the average, we have seen crime go down in our community, when the community has grown in population and size.”

Shiner added that fighting crime is a community effort.
