Crime Stoppers tip lands burglary suspect behind bars

A suspect wanted in a string of vehicle burglaries is now in police custody thanks to a Crime Stoppers tip.

State Police arrested 18-year-old Gmerrio Underwood in connection with multiple burglaries that happened back on Aug. 31.  

The crimes occurred in the 7400 block of Glen Leaf Rd., Westwood Rd., Garden Oaks Dr., and Cross Timbers Dr. in west Shreveport. 

After surveillance video was released and a tip was called into Crime Stoppers detectives were able to link Underwood the the burglaries.

During thee investigation, detectives learned that the vehicle that Underwood was in during the burglaries was stolen.  He was also in possession of items taken in the burglaries when he was arrested by State Police. 

Following interviews with detectives Underwood was charged with eight counts of Simple Burglary, four counts of Attempted Simple Burglary, one count of Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and one count of Theft of a Motor Vehicle. 

More charges are expected as this investigation continues.
