East Texas authorities arrested a man after customers at a gas station restrained him for allegedly recording a woman using the restroom with his cell phone.

According to the Smith County Sheriff’s Office, on Wednesday deputies responded to a gas station, located in the 16200 block of Highway 271, on reports of a disturbance.

When officials arrived on scene, they discovered customers had detained a man, identified as Carlos Garcia, 45, of Stafford.

The SCSO tells KETK, a female customer went into the restroom and as she sat down in the stall, she noticed feet under the next stall pointing toward her.

She then looked up and reportedly spotted Garcia recording her using the restroom.

The woman screamed and an altercation ensued. Another woman entered the restroom to assist the victim.

When Garcia tried to escape, male patrons at the gas station held him down until authorities arrived.

Garcia was arrested for invasive visual recording and booked into the Smith County Jail on $7,500 bond.
