Death of Bi-State inmate under investigation

Franklin Greathouse, 59 via Bowie County Sheriff's Office

The Bowie County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Rangeres are investigating the death of an inmate at the Bi-State Jail.

According to the Bowie County Sheriff’s Office, 59-year-old Franklin Greathouse was found unresponsive by his cellmate Monday evening. Jail staff conducted CPR on Greathouse until Life Net personnel arrived and took over, but the measures taken to his life were unsuccessful.

An autopsy has been ordered and the results are pending. However, according to BPSO, there was nothing found during the initial investigation of Mr. Greathouse’s death that would indicate his passing was anything other than natural.

Greathouse was being held in the Bi-State Jail on a warrant out of Miller County for failure to appear on forgery charge.
