The Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a Many infant early Monday morning.
According to Sabine Parish Coroner’s Office Chief Investigator Ron Rivers, deputies were called to the home just before 4 a.m. after the child’s parents woke up and found the infant unresponsive, not breathing, and cold to the touch.
An ambulance was called, but Rivers says the child’s parents were heading to the Sabine Medical Center when deputies intercepted their vehicle. They handed the child over the to the deputy, who did CPR until medics arrived. The infant was pronounced dead on the scene.
An autopsy has been ordered to determine the baby’s cause of death, and Rivers says results are pending.
The Louisiana Office of Child Services also working on the case along with the coroner’s office and the sheriff’s office.
