BARKSDALE AFB, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Barksdale Air Force Base is gearing up to host the Defenders of Liberty Air and Space Show May 18-19.
The Canadian Snowbirds, Canada’s premier aerial demonstration team will headline this year’s festivities. Other flying acts will include F-35 Demonstration Team, Tora! Tora! Tora, the U.S. Army Black Daggers, among others.
The airshow also features aircraft on static display.
Throughout the years, the free Airshow has acquired thousands of local residents and tourists. The event highlights the capabilities of the military while fostering a strong partnership with the community.
“The Airshow honors our service members both past and presents to show appreciation what they have done, as well salute the people of Shreveport-Bossier for their tremendous support over the years,” Air Show Director Maj. Benjamin Kempen said in a statement.
The Defenders of Liberty Air and Space show will incorporate a STEM Zone this year. School-aged kids can visit the STEM Zone for fun activities and exhibits in science, technology, engineering, and math. Exhibits include a tornado generator, virtual reality, drone flying and much more.
Attendees can access the gate through the North (Bossier) or West (Shreveport) gates. DOD ID cardholders can use the South (Bellaire) gate.

• Gates open at 9:00 a.m.
• Show Starts at 11:00 a.m.
• Show ends at approximately 4:30 p.m.
Access & Parking
Free, on-base parking through the North and West gates. The North Gate (Bossier) and West Gate (Shreveport) will allow public access beginning at 9 a.m. on both days. No overnight parking permitted. Click here for more details.
