Caddo Parish and Shreveport leaders invited residents to a community meeting to discuss District 12 on Tuesday evening at Western Hills Baptist Church.
“Very encouraging to see them having a dialogue with the citizens in a joint venture,” said Derrick Henderson, a resident of the southwestern part of the parish for 11 years. “That way they can capture the common themes and common concerns between the citizens.”
Residents did not discuss crime, but did discuss mortgage payments, community relations and the future of the district’s infrastructural future.
“Why duplicate resources, why duplicate efforts when you can do it together,” said Shreveport mayor Ollie Tyler. “But having a healthy dialogue with our citizens, we hear from them.”
