Shreveport native Doe Jones took some time out to come to her hometown before heading to the Grammy’s!
She says she received nothing but love The 30-year-old is nominated for a Grammy for a song she was featured on titled “Cycles.”
“The most impactful part of this song is, “The devil learns from your mistakes even if you don’t, that’s how he keeps you in cycles. I think that right there it’s revelatory,” said Jones.
The song is by her fellow gospel artist Jonathan McReynolds.
“I listened to that and I was like yes I will do it. I would have done it anyway because I’m a huge fan,” said Jones.
Before going solo, Jones started in a group with her family called “Forever Jones.”
They were also nominated for a Grammy for their first album.
Even though she’s familiar with being nominated she says the feeling is still new.
“We ran through the house screaming, we were so excited. With that one and with this one. I was just equally excited,” said Jones.
She’s been solo for less than a year.
Her latest single “Deepest Part” was released last October.
She says protecting her gift is what keeps her going.
“I didn’t just run through doors because they were open and I think that’s very important. You can’t chase opportunity you have to chase purpose,” said Jones.
She plans to release her next single in March.
