DOMTAR employees handed out tree seedlings to the public on Friday.
Thousands of free seedlings that were on hand included species like Persimmon, Bur Oak and Loblolly Pine. The event took place on the lawn of the Little River County Courthouse. Organizers said there was a tree for everybody in terms of size and variation.
The event is held annually in conjunction with DOMTAR’s EarthChoice campaign. “We’re about sustainability, we’re about sourcing and making sure we’re doing that the right way, working with landowners. So, any little chance that we can to promote something like that, we’ll do that,” said Ashdown Mill Manager Allan Bohn.
DOMTAR makes a wide variety of everyday products from sustainable wood fiber. The company’s Ashdown mill employs about eight hundred people.
