Donations being accepted around the ArkLaTex for Harvey victims

Organizations and businesses across the ArkLaTex are accepting donations to help victims of Hurricane Harvey.

Here is a list of places where you can donate:

UNITED WAY OF NORTHWEST LOUISIANA – accepts donations for flood relief fund

  • Donations – mail to the United Way of Northwest Louisiana’s office, 820 Jordan St. Suite 370, Shreveport, LA 71101.
  • Those interested in volunteering from Northwest Louisiana should contact American Red Cross at (318) 865-9545.



SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY AT SHREVEPORT – accepting donations for Harvey flood victims

SUSLA will begin collecting items to send toward the relief effort. Items requested for collection are:

  • Clothes, shoes, diapers, personal care, and non-perishable food items
  • Donations can be dropped off at the Jaguar Courtyard main campus at 3050 Martin Luther King, Jr., Dr. or at the Metro Center at 610 Texas
  • Drop off times are Mon. – Fri.  from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. or Sat. & Sun. from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Monetary contributions –  2017 Texas Flood Fund – https://foundation.sus.edu/texas-flood-relief/

SOUTHWOOD HIGH SCHOOL

  • All this week we will be taking donations at the school either in the cheer room or in the office
  • Items needed are bottled water, personal hygiene items, new undergarments, non-perishable food, diapers/wipes and batteries

JR’s SALOON IN VIVIAN

  • Setting up a disaster relief drive
  • Collecting non-perishables, toiletries
  • Contacting FEMA once they have enough supplies and will load up a truck and camper to get out there and help in the shelters

AFFORDABLE HOME FURNISHINGS

  • Accepting donations of water, canned food, baby food and other items
  • Drop off items at Shreveport location: 2710 West 70th St. Suite B
  • Drop off items at Natchitoches location: 311C South Dr.



CITY OF JEFFERSON, TEXAS
 
Relief Operations in the City of Jefferson:

  • Drop off location for food, water, clothing and relief supplies will be at The Jefferson Transportation Center, at  305 E. Austin St.
  • Residents can also use the Emergency Preparedness Portal, which can be accessed at: emergency.portal.texas.gov as an aid to locate charitable organizations assisting in hurricane relief efforts



HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS & SUITES TEXARKANA, AR AND CANDLEWOOD SUITES TEXARKANA, TX

Hersha Hospitality Management teams up with Trusted World to collect donations at the following locations until Sept. 4:

  • Holiday Inn Express & Suites at 5210 Crossroads Parkway, Texarkana Arkansas 71854
  • Candlewood Suites at 2901 S. Cowhorn Creek Loop, Texarkana Texas 75503
  • Items requested are new or gently used clothing, toiletries, hygiene products, and non-perishable foods
  • Hersha Hospitality Management will also be working with “Earthview” to supply bars of soap and bottles of water to the displaced Texans



SILVER STAR-TEXARKANA

  • Collecting donations to take to South Texas with in the next two weeks
  • Things needed – school supplies, toiletries, lumber (tools etc.), clothing, non-perishable food items, bottled water, first aid kits, sleeping bags/blankets, animal supplies
