Don’t go to jail! Pay fines during amnesty period

Local News

If you have an outstanding warrant in Miller County, Arkansas, here’s your chance to clear it up without going to jail.

If you have a warrant for failure to appear, a probation violation, or failure to report with district or city court, you can take advantage of the amnesty period.

All you have to do is go to the pay window at the Bi-State Justice Center in downtown Texarkana and pay your fine by March 29th.  Officials said the amnesty period is held every year around this time for a reason.  “The taxes are coming in, people are you know, having money that they don’t have normally.  So, instead of blowing it on a new waterbed, might as well take care of your fines,” Probation Officer Tom West.

Officials said if you have an active warrant and don’t take care of your fines, police will be knocking on your door as soon as the amnesty period is over.
