The top education leader in DeSoto Parish is leaving to tackle the largest school district in Louisiana. And DeSoto Parish is now looking for his replacement.
Dr. Cade Brumley is now the new superintendent for Jefferson Parish in south Louisiana. Dr. Brumley turned the DeSoto Parish school system from being ranked 49th in the state to ninth.
Jefferson parish is the largest school system in the state, with nearly 50,000 students and has a “C” for its letter performance grade.
Dr. Brumley says he already see’s some challenges he faces with the new school system, but with him leaving, Desoto is now faced with the challenge of finding someone that will keep the school district going in the right direction.
Dr. Cade Brumley says, “friction and division and things like that with in the system and so I hope that I can be an element that can help restore some of that, and bring some trust .”
Dudley Glenn DeSoto Parish school board president says,”we want a superintendent that will be able to keep us on the plane that we are on right now, improvement always means some change but change is for the better.”
The Desoto Parish school board has a meeting on Thursday where they will declare the superintendent position vacant.
In that meeting they will also authorize the board, to appoint an interim superintendent.
Dr. Brumley will present a letter of resignation between Tuesday and Thursday’s meeting to the board.
