Thursday’s testimony by Dr. Christine Blasey Ford about sexual assault allegations involving Supreme Court Nominee Brett Kavinaugh appears to have triggered a spike in calls to the National Sexual Assault hotline.

The Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network — called RAINN — tweeted that the number of calls to its hotline was up by 201 percent Thursday.

Locally, Project Celebration, which has a sexual assault center and crisis hotline has also experienced an increase in calls.

Amber Webster says, “I saw so many things that would be triggering to victims or survivors.  I say to the people who are so quick to judge…What if that was your daughter?  What if that was your mom?  Would you believe them?”

People living in Northwest Louisiana have access to Project Celebration’s 24 hour hotline.
