Police in east Texas say a car drove into Lake Palestine in Cherokee County.

They say around 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, crews responded to a single vehicle crash on FM-346 just south of FM-855.

Preliminary crash investigation information indicated that a 2009 Nissan Murano driven by Joseph Van, 41, of Flint was head north on FM-346 when the vehicle went off the west side of the roadway due to the drivers admitted texting.

The driver over corrected, crossing FM-346 and over the east  guardrail; into Lake Palestine.

Two citizens in a boat helped the driver get out and to safety.
