Early-morning fire claims two lives, one a child; four injured

Louisiana State Fire Marshal deputies are on the scene where an early-morning moble home fire just north of Campti, La. claimed the lives of two people, including a child.

Investigators have confirmed there were six occupants in the mobile home at the time of the fire. Two victims, including a 6-year-old girl, were unable to escape.

The other four occupants are being treated at a nearby hospital for various levels of smoke inhalation.

Natchitoches Fire District #9 responded to the mobile home fire call around 5:30 a.m. in the 100 block of Brite Star Church Road, and the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s deputies, Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS and Natchitoches Parish Coroner’s Office arrived shortly after.

LSFM deputies are at the scene investigating the fire, and NPSO Criminal Investigations Division is also there.

The names of the occupants have not been released pending notification of family. The investigation is on-going.
