East Texas crash sends two teens to hospital

One teen was airlifted, and another transported to hospitals after an early-morning crash in East Texas.

Slayton Willis, 17, from Lufkin, was airlifted to ETMC-Tyler by medical helicopter for treatment, and his passenger, 17-year-old Dillon Grady. Grady was transported to CHI St. Luke’s Hospital, following a single-vehicle crash on FM 2021 in Angelina County.

Troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) investigated a the crash that happened about a half-mile west of FM 2251 on FM 2021 around 7:15 a.m. Saturday. 

The preliminary crash investigation indicates a 2002 Chevrolet SUV driven by Willis was traveling east on FM 2021 when it veered off the roadway to the right and overturned; ejecting Willis. 

This crash remains under investigation. No additional information is available at this time.
