East Texas officer killed in wreck after trying to avoid hitting deer

An East Texas corrections officer is dead following an early morning accident.

Around 12:40 a.m. Tuesday the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to a one-vehicle crash on Farm-to-Market Road 31 in Harrison County, about 10 miles south of Marshall.  

The preliminary crash investigation revealed the driver of a car identified as Noah Tyson Langston, 20, of Jefferson, was traveling south on FM 31 in the right lane when a deer entered the roadway.

Langston attempted to take evasive action to avoid striking the deer, but was unsuccessful. He then entered a side-skid leaving the left side of the highway and hit a tree on the vehicle’s left side. 

Langston was pronounced dead by Judge Megan Pinson.  His body was taken to Meadowbrook Funeral Home in Marshall.

Langston served as a corrections officer for Harrison County.
