Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards says its important to help our neighboring states after a natural disaster like Hurricane Michael.
“There before the grace of God us go right? So being neighbors is incredibly important and when we needed help whether it was Katrina, Rita, Gustav, Ike we got help from other states. So for us to be able to return the favor and send national guardsmen to send fire marshals and wild life and fishery officers, the Department of Health (LA) sent ambulances over. Very, very important. We’re all neighbors and we’re in this together and we did receive lots of requests for assistance. We gave assistance everywhere we were asked, primarily to the state of Florida but also to Georgia as well. And the relationship that I have with the Governors there really goes a long way I think and so we can rest assure that if and it’s just a matter of time when the next storm hits Louisiana and we have a disaster, we will be able to get that we will be able to get that assistance we need from those states as well” said Gov. John Bel Edwards.
