Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards laid out his 2019 agenda during an appearance at the Baton Rouge Press Club.
Edwards says he will be pushing for a raise in teacher pay. Edwards says teachers routinely have to pay for itemts out of their own pockets.
“As someone married to an elementary music teacher, I’ve watched Donna buy things like instruments for kids.”
Edwards says he will again push for a increase in the state minimum wage. Lawmakers have rejected several bills over the last few sessions that would have raised it.
Edwards also told the Press Club that he wants to be in a position to approve sports betting in Louisiana, so the state doesn’t lose revenue to Mississippi.
