Eight people are dead, including the suspect, and two are critically wounded after a shooting at a home in Plano, Texas, according to police.

Officer David Tilley said police were called to a home on the 1700 block of West Spring Creek Parkway, less than 20 miles northeast of Dallas, just after 8 p.m. Sunday on a report of gunshots heard.

Tilley said an officer heard gunshots as he approached the scene and confronted a man armed with a gun as he entered the home. The officer opened fire and killed the suspect. It was unclear if the suspect fired at the officer.

Officers then found nine other people, all adults, inside the home with gunshot wounds.
