The Louisiana State Fire Marshal says a north Louisiana died in a house fire Tuesday morning.
According to the Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshall, the Winnsboro Fire Department received a call around 5:50 a.m. about the fire.
The victim is a 79-year-old African American woman who is the sole occupant/owner of the home.
Winnsboro Fire says several crews worked to battle the fire within less than a hour. The home is not a total loss.
The State Fire Marshall says there were no smoke alarms in the house and piles of clothes/items some as high as 5 ft. obstructed her from getting out.
