An East Texas transport deputy has resigned from his duties after confessing to sexually assaulting an inmate.

According to a statement released by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, an inmate claimed on Friday that she had been sexually assaulted by Transport Deputy Valentine in Corsicana, Texas.

The inmate had just been brought into the Harrison County Jail from the Woodman Unit in Gatesville.

The inmate was taken to Tyler for a Sexual Assault Nurse Examination where DNA was collected. Valentine was immediately suspended from duty while the investigation was being conducted.

Valentine, who later resigned from his duties, was interviewed by the Criminal Investigations Division Capt. Duncan and the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office says a confession from Valentine was obtained.

Evidence from Valentine along with DNA was also collected.

Because the alleged assault took place in Corsicana, the Navarro County District Attorney’s office has been contacted and the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office says the case and all the evidence gathered so far in the ongoing investigation is being referred to the Corsicana Police Department.
