The family of a man arrested by Shreveport police on Wednesday claims he was beaten by officers.
Police are saying the man’s actions speak for themselves.
On Andre Carter’s mug shot, bruises on his face are clearly visible.
Police say Carter was approached by officers in the Queensborough neighborhood on Wednesday because he was in the street.
Carter ultimately ran away resisted and had to be wrestled to the ground.
During the arrest, police found a stolen gun in carter’s waistband.
Carter’s family says he was kicked in the face and has teeth missing.
They also say he had to be taken to the hospital.
“You sit there and let somebody beat your child that’s on you but I know who I serve and that’s a high power. That’s God Almighty. It stops right now in the name of Jesus. It stops,” said Olivia Carter who is Andre’s mother.
Carter is charged with resisting arrest, illegal possession of a firearm by a felon, and other weapon charges.
Shreveport police have not made a comment on the family’s accusations.
