The jury in the wrongful death lawsuit for the family of a woman who was stabbed to death in a Marshall, Texas hotel in 2013 has come back with a decision in favor of the slain woman’s family.
Kari Dunn’s family was seeking nearly $60 million in damages from the owners of the hotel but won $41.5 million instead.
Kari’s 9-year-old daughter tried calling 911 from the hotel room, but couldn’t connect.
The family’s attorney also argues the hotel staff was not equipped to handle an emergency situation.
NBC6/FOX33 Reporter Delano Henry was in the courtroom when the jury returned with their decision.
Watch him tonight only on NBC6 and FOX33 evening news broadcasts.
