Imagine how much a fine would be for a library book, that’s 84-years overdue.
Margaret Eubank Stroud checked out a copy of spoon river anthology in 1934.
Her children presented a check to the Shreve Memorial Library on Thursday to pay for the overdue fees.
The fine was waived when the book was returned in October.
“I found the book and my parents live in assistance living and my mom died about four years ago and my dad was moving from one area to another area, and kind of on a lark I thought it would be kind of humorous to take it by the library. I don’t think she would enjoy the focus being on her. She would have a little bit of embarrassment but at the same time she would think it was very funny” said Robert Stroud.
The fine was $1500.
