An Allendale woman lost her dogs in a fire that destroyed her home on Thursday afternoon.
It happened in the 1900 block of Poland Avenue just before 3 p.m. Shreveport firefighters arrived on the scene to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the front of the home.
While everyone was out of the house by the time firefighters arrived, the family pets were still inside and did not survive the smoke and flames. The home was heavily damaged by smoke and fire. The firefighters had the flames under control within minutes.
Fire officials say that the fire started in a room at the front of the house. The cause of the blaze is still under investigation, but the family believes the fire started from wiring. No injuries were reported.
Fire officials are still investigating the cause.
