Family shot in internet sale gone wrong now authorities have some safety tips

Local News

A five year old child is shot, along with his mother and father, as the family tries to sell a puppy in north Shreveport.

It happened on Lyba street in the Mooretown neighborhood just after 6:00 pm Thursday.

The family met up with an unknown person to sell the dog.

Police say they were then ambushed by gun fire.

The family had non-life threatening injuries.

As police search for the gunman, they’re reminding people about the safe spaces available in the city for internet purchase exchanges.

Deputies hope the reminder will prevent tragedies like this one from happening again.

LT. Alan Davidson, Caddo Parish Sheriff deputy says,”if they don’t want to meet at a sheriff office safe zone to make you feel safe then you probably need to run from that sale.”

There are three internet purchase exchange locations in Caddo Parish with surveillance.

Sheriff sub station in Oil City

North Market sheriff maintenance facility

South sheriff sub station in Keithville

In Bossier Parish it is recommended that you make your internet purchase exchange at the Bossier Parish Sheriff Stations.

In DeSoto Parish internet purchase exchange locations are not open until January. The first one will be open in Logan Sport, then the Mansfield location for the DeSoto Parish Sheriff Office. In August of 2019 the new Stonewall building of the DeSoto Parish Sheriff office will have the internet purchase exchange locations along with child drop off locations open for use.

In Marshall Texas you can utilize the internet purchase exchange parking spots at the Marshall Texas Police Department located at  2101 East End Blvd. North
