His wife Frances, is proud of the positive influence her husband had on student’s lives. She adds,”I was very surprised and shocked and I said what him, but I know he did a beautiful job while he was working.”
The award is presented annually to an educator who had a significant impact on the district and the community.Brewster and his wife say they are honored, but he was simply doing what he was called to do.
She adds,”he just did his job and enjoyed himself and retired. He echoes, “and then retired and when I retired I retired.”
Although Brewster is no longer teaching his legacy will live on for generations to come through his former students.
Stefanie Laird says,”Some of these kids like myself, who didn’t feel like they were really good at anything and all of a sudden they found their passion and they’re able to use that passion to make life better for other people and that’s what I’m hoping that I’ll get to do. That’s what he did for us.”
Now that he has passed the torch. He is very active in the church. His wife says,”he’s head of the trustee board and the finance committee.” Brewster hopes to continue to be a beacon of light to people around him.
