Time’s running out to file your taxes, and if you need a hand preparing and filing your annual state and federal returns, free help is available across our area.
So far this tax season, volunteers with AARP Tax Aide have helped about 500 people with their taxes at their Texarkana location. They are set up from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Southwest Community Center on the Texas side.
Even though they are located in Texas, they can also assist with Arkansas taxes.
They say you need to bring photo identification, social security card and documents showing all your income and itemized deductions.
Officials said they’re geared toward helping elderly and low-income folks, but they turn no one away.
“No matter how your age or what you make, if you just have one income statement, that’s very easy to do,” said Mary Ann Daniels, a volunteer. “We’d have you in here and out of here in no time.”
AARP Tax Aide locations are available throughout the ArkLaTex. You can find your nearest location here: AARP Tax Aide
The deadline to file your income taxes is April 15.
