Two families are searching for the answers they are looking for after their two relatives were shot by a Shreveport Police officer.
37-year old Rodriques Smith and 34-year old Ladarren Jackson were walking on 80th street and Dillman Avenue and shooting a gun in the neighborhood. Sergeant Michael Jones responded on the scene and approached the two men.
Smith was shot after pulling a gun on the officer, who thought he was being ambushed. Jackson then pulled another gun on him and was shot. He ran away to a nearby house.
“From the story they told, it was unbelievable,” said Rodriques’s aunt Kayla Harvey. “There’s nowhere to ambush anyone!”
The family says this story just does not add up.
“It could have been another way,” said Ladarren’s mother Darla Jackson. “I don’t know all the details, but I surely indeed don’t believe that.”
