Geek’d Con open for all

Local News

Geek’d Con has returned for another year in the Port City.

“Be a hero that you want to be,” said Mark “Batman” Brown who brought his son on Friday. “… in which every day life you’re just not able to be.”

Geek’d Con is a major event for everyone in Shreveport every year, not just those who wish to be Superman, Batman or whomever else they can recreate. Guests this year include WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley, “Jack Skellington” voice actor Chris Sarandon and “Kratos” from “God of War” voice actor Christopher Judge.

“I always get excited when I’m going to be at a convention,” said Brett Mitchell, who went to high school in Shreveport and returns for the convention specifically. “But, especially in a convention where I went to high school at.”

Founder Greg Atoms blieves this is a unique event for unique people.

“To bring something that you would much otherwise you would have to be in a much larger city to have,” Atoms said. “We’re seeing it tonight already, that this is going to be the biggest year ever.”
