Southern University hosted their 19th annual Gentleman’s Classic at the Shreveport Convention Center on Saturday evening. All of the proceeds from the competition are going to more than $81,000 in scholarships.
“We can help our universities and non-profits by tasting Louisiana seafood,” said Louisiana Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser. “The best in the world and help a great cause.”
Shreveport was the epicenter of all of the spices from the Southwest region. Each chef has a specific reason for their drive to the be at the competition.
“It means the world to me,” chef “Big Nate” Cosby. “We need it. Everyone needs help. That’s the best feeling. I want to give people that love that’s in me. I cook for the love.”
