The American Heart Association is asking women to “Go Red!” The organization encouraged people to wear red Friday to raise awareness about women and heart disease, the leading cause of death for women.
According to Dr. Pavan Katikaneni, everyday 300 women’s lives are saved thanks to awareness campaigns like National Wear Red Day.
“Promoting the severeness, so that more women in more communities, more policymakers, more healthcare professionals, everybody is aware of the facts, the figures, the myths. What can be done and what could be done that can affect change.”
This year’s Northwest Louisiana Go Red Luncheon is February 14th at the Shreveport Convention Center.
