Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson kicks off a two day tour across South Arkansas to discuss issues farmers are facing.
Governor Asa Hutchinson listened to the frustrations of dozens of farmers.”It’s about their cost that they have and their profit margin that is getting shrunk,” said Gov. Hutchinson.
Larry Hoover is a poultry farmer, pushing for a tax exemption on water.” $1800.00 that’s a pretty good lick for anybody and it just kinda shuts you down on what you can do,” said Hoover.
We’ve already had a 150-million dollars in annual income tax exemption, but we need to do more,” said Gov. Hutchinson.
Governor Hutchinson also addressed the trade war affecting the country.”Obviously we want to rebalance the trade, but we also want this tariff war to end because it hurts our agriculture and our consumer,” said Gov. Hutchinson.
“I’m glad he came and listened to some of the concerns the farmers around here have concerns about,” said Hoover.
The governor will visit Nevada, Oachita and Desha Counties tomorrow.
