Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards visits Natchitoches for a major announcement at the Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts, which is one of the top schools in the country.
$27 million will be invested at the school to build new dormitories.
When Edwards made the announcement during a school assembly, the auditorium erupted into cheers coming from the students.
This will be the last class of students who will be housed at the Prudhomme and Caddo dormitories which have been here for decades.
Governor Edwards says the $27 million price tag isn’t an expense but an investment for education.
Edwards says $9 million has already been spent on preliminary plans.
Crews will start breaking ground on the new dorms in the coming months.
