Group seeking support on Cross Bayou project

One development group is asking Shreveport to commit to a one billion dollar project.

The Gateway Development Consortium is asking the city of Shreveport to partner with them on the Cross Bayou Point Project.

The plan is to build five thousand homes and apartments, a new educational and technology center and a home for a proposed NBA G-League team.

One Councilman says this is something he cannot get behind.

“If we want to send a negative message to those doing development in our city, move forward with saying, hey we embrace somebody’s dream. We’re going to put streets and pipes and doing all that stuff and y’all have at it. No way I’m supporting that” said Councilman Michael Corbin.

The Shreveport City Council is expected to discuss the resolution at today’s council meeting.
