Harvest Regional Food Bank needs volunteers to help pick corn

Local News

Harvest Regional Food Bank in Texarkana, Arkansas has received a large donation of fresh corn, but volunteers are needed to pick it!

The sweet corn is located in Little River County.  Officials say the two acres amounts to about forty thousand pounds of corn!  The food bank’s small staff isn’t sufficient to pick all the corn, so they’re asking for community support.

The fresh produce will be delivered to food insecure families in the ten-county area served by the food bank.

Picking days are set for Monday, June 25 and Tuesday, June 26th, from 8am to noon. Volunteers will be asked to meet at the Foreman, Arkansas rest area around at 8am. For those who come later, there will be signs directing volunteers to the field on Highway 41.  if interested in volunteering, please contact Harvest Regional Food Bank at 870-774-1398.
