The author of the New York times best-selling book ‘Heaven is for Real’ is in Texarkana this weekend, along with his son, the central character in the book.
Todd Burpo wrote the book about his son, Colton. The two are in town for the Gathering of Authors conference. When Colton was four years-old, he underwent surgery and emerged with astounding stories of heaven.
His story was even made into a movie in 2014. Todd Burpo said, “The more despair this world has, and it seems like despair is only increasing, the more the hope of heaven is always gonna be, even that much more important and that much more needed for people to hear.”
When asked what heaven was like Colton replied, “As much as I’ve tried to figure out how do I describe what heaven feels like, it just feels like home.”
Todd and Colton will speak Friday at 7pm at a charity dinner in Texarkana at Williams Memorial United Methodist Church at 4000 Moore’s Lane in Texarkana, Texas. For more information, call (903) 701-1205.
The two will also attend the Gathering of Authors book signing event on Saturday at the Arkansas Convention Center from 10am to 3pm.
