A single-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 2 claimed the life of a Homer man Friday  evening.

Dennis Webb, 57, was pronounced dead at the scene, about one mile east of Louisiana Highway 534.

Around 6:30 p.m. yesterday, Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to the crash, where they found Webb.
The preliminary investigation revealed Webb was driving a 2013 Dodge Charger on LA 2 at a high rate of speed. The vehicle left the road and began to rotate before hitting a tree.

Webb was not wearing a seat belt and sustained fatal injuries in the crash.

Excessive speed and lack of seat belt usage are suspected factors in this crash though toxicology samples were taken and submitted for analysis.

The crash remains under investigation.
