“I can never repay the debt that is owed,“ said Georgia Washington Blow, Participant.
George Washington Blow is one of the many runners participating in the Miles for Meals 5K and Mosey Mile to raise money for the Caddo Parish Meals on Wheels program.
“When I first started taking care of my parent I wasn’t the best cook. So it was fantastic that they provided the services in addition to what I could do,“ said Blow.
For five years meals on wheels delivered food to Blow’s mother providing a sense of security during hard times.
“It gave me a great sense of stability knowing that. Not only were we going to get a nutritious meal, but people were going to come in and showing love and care,“ said Blow.
Each day meals on wheels serves 1100 hundred meals to senior citizens in Caddo Parish.
“A lot of our seniors they’re home bound. They don’t have any contact with their family throughout the week. They face a lot of challenges,“ said Monica Wright, Meals on Wheels Exec Direc.
Through this fundraiser their goal is to raise 50,000 dollars to continue serving the thousands of senior citizens in need.
“It be great if everybody could step up to volunteer. You never know one day it could be your neighbor who needs the meals on wheels,“ said Wright.
