Mardi Gras season is here and people are lining up on parade routes to catch as many beads as possible.

People from around the Ark-La-Tex have come into town for one of the biggest parades in North Louisiana, the Krewe of Centaur Parade and they have been lined up since the wee hours of the morning, all looking for that one perfect spot.

For Krewe of Centaur Parade watchers, it was an early start to their Saturday.

Lining up behind police barricades since two this morning.

Jerry Thomas who is preparing for the parade says,”you have to wait behind barricades until 7.”

Hundreds of thousands of people lined up for miles along Clyde Fant Parkway, waiting for beads to be thrown their way.

“We are here for family and friends and to have a good time, catch a few beads.”

The Thomas family has been prepping all week for the parade.

Billie Thomas wife to Jerry Thomas says, “we have an on-going list of what we need and it runs from everything from the grill to arranging for the private port a potty, to the food, the guest list.”

This family has earned veteran status when it comes to setting up for the Centaur Parade.

“We been doing it now together for seven years …heaters, tents the whole nine yards.”

Its the family favorite, because it’s the bigger parade.

“It’s fun, especially the kids when they start laughing and they eyes start to light up it’s a great time.”

Everyone”s favorite thing about the Krewe of Centaur Parade is an easy choice.

“I like the change every year it’s something a little bit different to see what specialty beads they have or whats unique so thats always kind of a fun thing to see.”

This is the 27th year the Krewe of Centaur Parade has been rolling through the city.
