The Wyndham Garden hotel in Texarkana opens its doors to Hurricane Harvey evacuees.
The hurricane is not only affecting evacuees but management as well.
Jenna Zucha evacuated from Houston with her family days before Hurricane Harvey made it’s impact.
“Its been unbelievable, nobody expected it to be this way” says Zucha.
The decision that prompted the family to leave early is because of her one year old niece.
“We’ve gone through a lot of hurricanes in the pass. You hope for the best but plan for the worst.” says Zucha.
Her family has no idea how long they will have to stay at the Wyndham hotel here in Texarkana.
She says she’s able to keep a positive smile through it all because the amount of love they have received.
“Luckily the people in Texarkana have been very kind to us” says Zucha.
Jayesh Mehea, the operations manager over the Wyndham Hotel says they are giving evacuees discounts.
“We don’t want to make money from these people” says Mehea.
It hits home for him because his own daughter lives in houston and she didn’t make it out.
“But by the grace of God she is safe” says Mehea.
The hotel is also partnering with FEMA providing evacuees with tax documents for assistance.
