In the Courts: New court date set for accused cop killer

SHREVEPORT, LA - It took less than three minutes for a Caddo District judge to admonish the the man accused of killing a Shreveport Police officer to listen to his lawyer.

Grover Cannon, accused in the August 2015 shooting death of Shreveport Police Officer Thomas LaValley, is refusing to speak to his defense attorneys or two court-appointed psychiatrists because he doesn't like the insanity plea his attorneys entered.

He wants to plead not-guilty

At Cannon’s last court appearance, Judge Ramona Emanuel ordered he undergo additional evaluations to determine his mental condition, but Cannon has refused.

Emanuel told Cannon to reconsider, set a November 20 deadline for psychiatric reports and a November 27 court date for Cannon to return to court.
